Thank you for your interest in my services for your counseling needs. I offer individual, family, couples, and group counseling for children, adolescents, and adults. Mental health covers a wide range of personal and familial challenges each which have their individual treatment options.
I am able to provide individualized services and treatment options created for each person or family preferences. After assessment and/or short term counseling, if I feel your needs cannot be met adequately, or your needs warrant medical, psychiatric, or extended treatment, I will refer you to the appropriate resource.
I have a diverse counseling practice utilizing many therapeutic techniques. The emphasis is upon the identification of personal strengths and resources which are designed to empower the individual to expand upon existing coping skills.
Self-awareness and self-acceptance are two of the primary goals of counseling sessions. There is an emphasis, as well, upon getting to the root of the problem, reframing old beliefs, and healing the dysfunctional patterns that have evolved in our lives.
In addition to Neurofeedback and Biofeedback, I frequently work with a therapy dog (Mika, the Great Dane) when appropriate after checking the client’s comfortability with dogs. I use Choice Theory approach, based upon current therapeutic practices and the individual’s needs. Therapeutic emphasis may include, but are not limited to, the following: Reality Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, other cognitive behavioral therapies, Person Centered Therapy, Theraplay, and Experiential therapies.
I have a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Social Work from Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia. I also hold a Master’s of Education degree in School Counseling from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. After working in mental health case management for 3 years, I returned to higher education to attain my license in professional counseling services as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
I began my career in 2001 and have experience working with persons of all ages from early child intervention, through adolescence to adults, families, and couples. I have worked in residential facilities for kids and adults, intensive school therapy services, and individual therapy settings. I look forward to using my experience to support your individual needs.
After opening my private practice in 2015, I chose to return to school to study Biofeedback and Neurofeedback practices. In 2017 I was able to purchase and incorporate the feedback resources into my practice in two of my three locations in central Montana, Stanford and Lewistown.
