Deanna is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Montana State University-Bozeman (MSU) in 2007, and her master’s degree in Health & Human Development- Mental Health Counseling from MSU in 2009. Deanna’s master’s program included a practicum and internship at the Human Development Clinic in Bozeman.
Following graduation Deanna began working as a Program Therapist for Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch (YBGR)’s residential treatment program in Billings, MT. In February 2011, Deanna transferred into a YBGR School-Based Therapist position in Lewistown, MT.
Through this position, Deanna provided individual, group, and family therapy for youth and their families at Garfield & Highland Park Elementary Schools. Deanna became a Clinical Supervisor for YBGR’s School & Community Programs in Lewistown & Roundup in May 2013. She began accepting private practice clients with Counseling Services in January 2016.
Deanna offers individual, couples/family, and group counseling. She specializes in working with anxiety, trauma, interpersonal, and mood issues. Other areas of interest include bereavement, anger management, identity, and self-esteem.
Deanna offers short and long term counseling with an emphasis on identifying and building on client’s personal strengths, teaching new skills, and providing psychoeducation as appropriate to support clients in overcoming barriers and promoting optimal health and wellness. Personal growth, reduction of distress, and increased ability to experience and regulate a full range of emotions are primary goals of therapy.
Deanna utilizes an eclectic approach based upon assessment, collaboratively identified needs, and accepted/evidence-based therapeutic practices. Therapeutic emphasis may include but is not limited to the following: Experiential Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Play Therapy, & Animal-Assisted Therapy.
